Formed in 2001 and initially funded by the National Education Association, the Southern Illinois Education Alliance seeks to build cooperative structures to achieve excellence in education.
  1. Expand articulation and communication among educational partners and with the wider community.
  2. Promote and provide professional development leading to quality instruction.
  3. Enhance awareness of teaching as a profession among middle, high school, and college students.
  4. Support retention and practicing educators.
  5. Promote access and use of the latest technology and the Internet in the delivery of instruction.
  6. Expand diversity education activities among the partner institutions for a greater impact on students and educators.
  7. Identify and recruit future Alliance partners.
